The Association of Academic Music Competitions (Ukraine) was founded in 2001. Recognized Ukrainian competitions - the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz and International Vladimir Krainev Competition for Young Pianists - initiated its creation.

The Association is officially recorded public organization guided in its activities by the Constitution of Ukraine, Law of Ukraine "About joining of citizenry", effective legislation of Ukraine and Status of the Association.
